Limits and restrictions

  • Only lines that start with -, *, +, •, ▪, ●, ✔, →, ✨, — or a number with "." or ")" are treated as bullets.
  • Unicode bold first lines look bold but may not be read well by screen readers.
  • Hashtags in the middle of a sentence are moved too when "Move hashtags to the end" is on.

Tips and best practices

  • Keep bullets short: one idea per line reads best on a phone.
  • Use a styled first line sparingly, for a short hook only.
  • Check the character count after formatting; bullets and emoji add characters.
  • Run the result through the Caption Counter to check the "more" cut-off.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Line Break Generator?

The Line Break Generator only fixes spacing. This formatter also changes list markers, styles the first line and moves hashtags.

Will the bullets work in other apps?

Yes. They are ordinary Unicode symbols and emoji that work in most apps.

Can I keep my own bullets?

Yes. Choose "Keep my bullets" and only spacing, the first line and hashtags change.

What does Undo do?

It brings back the previous formatted version. Your original draft in the left box is never changed.

Does the bold first line count as more characters?

Each styled letter is one character, but some apps count them as two. Check the counter.

Can I number the steps automatically?

Yes. Choose "1. Numbers"; numbering restarts after each paragraph.
