    Examples

    A title that fits

    Input
Free Caption, Text & Creator Tools | Captionzy (46 characters)
    Result
About 412 px wide in Chrome with Arial, well under the 600 px guide.

A title that is too wide

    Input
The Complete Beginner Guide to Writing Instagram Captions That Get Saved and Shared (83 characters)
    Result

    Limits and restrictions

    • Google states there is no limit on title or meta description length and that results are truncated to fit the device. The 600 px and 920 px guides are common approximations, not Google rules.
    • Google may rewrite titles and choose its own snippet text.
    • Widths depend on the fonts on your device, so they can differ by a few pixels.

    Tips and best practices

    • Put the main topic at the start of the title.
    • Write a description that answers "what will I get on this page?" in one or two sentences.
    • Avoid repeating the same words in title and description.
    • Check that every page has a different title.

    Frequently asked questions

Will Google show my result exactly like this?

Not guaranteed. Google decides what to show and may use different text.

Should I hit the limit exactly?

No. Aim for a clear title that fits, with the main topic near the start.

    Do characters or pixels matter?

Display is limited by width, so wide letters like W use more space than narrow ones like i. That is why pixels are shown.

Does the URL affect the preview?

Yes. The site name and path are taken from the URL you enter.

Is there a limit on meta description length?

Google says there is no limit, but long descriptions are truncated in results.
